This work began with a simple question: Can an image of something that never happened still feel like a memory? Using generative AI, ordinary scenes (a conversation, someone walking alone, a house, a meal) are reconstructed as moments that never actually existed. Yet they carry a sense of familiarity, recalling places we might have been, people we might have known, or memories we cannot quite locate. Roland Barthes described photography as evidence of something that "has been." AI-generated images complicate this idea: they can look and feel like photographs, even though there was never an original moment to photograph.

Rather than correcting the strange lighting, imperfect figures, and ambiguous details generated by AI, these elements are left visible, making the scenes recognizable but never quite complete. Here, AI becomes more than a tool for reproducing reality. Without having memories of its own, it participates with the artist in creating scenes that somehow feel remembered. Here, AI becomes more than a tool for reproducing reality, taking part in the creative process with the artist to construct moments that never existed, yet somehow feel remembered.
