Dead End Gallery artists at Samsung Gallery Fold
Dead End Gallery artists Arno Coenen and Heather Lim are part of Samsung’s Gallery Fold in Amsterdam and Brussel. Gallery Fold is a pop-up exhibition exploring how AI, technology and human creativity are reshaping contemporary art.
From 18 to 20 September, Samsung presents Gallery Fold, a temporary AI gallery on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. The exhibition brings together ten international artists who use AI not simply as a fast image generator, but as a deliberate part of their artistic practice.
Two Dead End Gallery artists are represented in the exhibition: Arno Coenen and Heather Lim.
Gallery Fold focuses on a development that Dead End Gallery has been exploring since opening in 2023: AI is not only changing how images are made, but is also raising new questions about creativity, authorship and what it means to be an artist.
While generative AI is often associated with the enormous amount of quickly produced imagery appearing online, Gallery Fold highlights artists who use technology consciously and purposefully to develop their own visual language and artistic practice.
Alongside Arno Coenen and Heather Lim, the exhibition features work by Noëlle van Dijk, Pascal Sgro, Medusa Medusa, Jee Kim, Leammonn, Max Tyler, Luceo Non Uro and Daiya Dai.
Samsung describes these artists as pioneers who challenge existing conventions and explore what can emerge when human creativity and new technology come together. This closely reflects the philosophy of Dead End Gallery: AI is not a replacement for the artist, but a new tool within a much larger creative process.
The exhibition also features Fold Pond, an interactive installation that invites visitors to experiment with AI and digital creation themselves.
