Rodger Werkhoven
A Bachelor of Fine Arts, Rodger Werkhoven works and lives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Between 1988 and 1993, he pioneered studying Image and Media Technology at the esteemed HKU; Academy of the Arts Utrecht. With over 30 years of experience in the creative industry, Werkhoven, as award-winning designer, art director and eventually executive creative director, has worked with numerous design and ad agencies, helping them conceive creative campaign concepts and strategically implement innovative creative technology.
Spring 2022, Rodger Werkhoven was invited by OpenAI to become part of a small, pre-selected group of creative professionals world wide, to work closely with OpenAI’s developers on the ongoing development, improvement and testing of their GenAI models, contributing to the successful beta launch of DALL•E 2, July 2022, later followed by its also successful public launch, which served as the blueprint for also successfully launching ChatGPT, September 2022.
Beyond OpenAI, Rodger Werkhoven helped other AI developing companies like D-ID innovate their AI-products, resulting in the world's first AI-generated, AI-animated, and AI-narrated videoexperiments. These experiments resulted in a concept he developed with D-ID for an artists’ allin-one AI-creation studio, later launched as Creative Reality Studio. Werkhoven helped D-ID reach relevant new audiences and clients in the creative industry.
Werkhoven today travels the world to advice creative industries, government officials and educators on how to responsibly and safely implement AI in their work-flows. And at AI-summits globally, he presents dynamic keynote presentations on these subjects, which touch upon their promising future capabilities as well as on their societal, cultural and IP-implications.
Together with renowned Dutch artist Arno Coenen (Markthal Rotterdam Ceiling), Rodger Werkhoven co-founded CollaborAitors, the art collective that operates at the intersection of art, technology, and science. Together they in 2022 produced the World’s First AI-generated, animated, narrated short film ‘Let’s Be Friends’, which a year after its production won at the prestigious Oberhausen International Film Festival of 2023, and is now screened world wide at
film festivals in the United States, China, and Europe.
Other GenAI art projects by Rodger Werkhoven for Dead End Gallery, were exhibited during Art Basel Miami, TEFAF Art Fair Maastricht, at Amsterdam KunstRAI, during TEDx Amsterdam, at the renowned Lowlands Art and Music Festival and during Amsterdam Museumnacht.
Since late 2024, with a foundation in thought-leadership on generative artificial intelligence and reasoning technologies, Werkhoven–through Another Dimension–explores AI’s transformative impact on art, culture, creative industries and society. Werkhoven co-founded Another Dimension offering kindred artists a platform to help them artistically innovate with cutting-edge AI technologies, redefining their boundaries of human and machine creativity. The initiative spans disciplines from art to architecture, branding to media, and ceramics to animatics.
