This piece inspired by traditional Korean painting Minhwa, particularly reminiscent of the Ilwolobongdo (일월오봉도), which features the sun, moon, and mountains and is often symbolic of cosmic balance and royal authority. While working with AI, I frequently encountered a shortage of data representing Eastern cultures. Moreover, even within Asia, the distinct cultural identities of Korea, China, and Japan often pose challenges in producing results that clearly differentiate between them. In this work, I took a more focused approach by training the AI on traditional Korean Minhwa and, based on those results, embarked on creating a new version of Minhwa.
